Aragami 2 rating7/15/2023 ![]() Combat is clunky with the parry function being a 50/50 toss-up at times. You will traverse 10 semi-open world areas these are separated by interconnecting portals to your base. Nothing wrong with anime, it’s just not what the series represents to me.Īragami 2 is a Third Person Adventure/Stealth game, but clearly the developers wanted to add more action to the adventure enjoyed in Aragami, this is evidenced with the inclusion of such clichés as parries and critical attacks in sword fights. Instead of a consistently dark and lonely tone – similar to Aragami – Aragami 2 from its crescendo to its conclusion screamed “Classic Anime”. I’m not saying that it’s a boring campaign that’s not worth your time, it just seems a bit shallow compared to what was presented by its predecessor. As far as premises go, it’s pretty straight forward, the main campaign maintains this straightforward feel all the way to the end. Your main Quest is to remove this unfortunate side effect and regain your humanity before time runs out. You have supernatural powers but the source of those powers is also slowly devouring your mind, body, and soul. The plot for Aragami 2 does not pick up from where the first game left of – that ending was perfect and needs no further expanding – instead, you’re pit as one of the last elite warriors of your kin, the Aragami. Other than that, Aragami 2 is exactly what was advertised, and its predecessor should be proud. Lince Works have made improvements to the original title but there are early signs of this stealth classic becoming just another hack and slash Fromsoft-esque game. Still, it's hard to deny the romance of gliding around a moonlit graveyard or bamboo forest like some kind of lethal apparition. What more could a Stealth fanatic ask for?Ĭards on the table, I played and absolutely loved the original so I got into this one with a lot of excitement but with a lot of scepticism on whether it would do its predecessor justice. Sometimes, mission-objective markers fail to appear correctly, the targeting reticule is hard to see, and the controls can be less than responsive. Unfortunately, a number of issues plague the game. Better still, the mystery at the center of the story pulls you through. The skill tree also offers some interesting upgrades, including the ability to summon a shadow dragon to take out enemies and see all the hidden scrolls in an area. Though violence is the heart of the game and there's blood, the anime-style graphics keep it from being too realistic. Dig a little deeper, and it's also about the identity of her spectral avenger. On the surface, the story nvolves the revenge of a young girl on the savages who murdered her people. Gameplay is somewhat unforgiving - one hit is all you can take before you're dust - but patience and dexterity are rewarded with some fairly cool ninja-like moments. Aside from a light role-playing element in the form of simple skill improvements, the whole point here is to sneak around like a ghost and either stealth-kill everyone you encounter or avoid them completely.Įach chapter involves navigating an area patrolled by guards who can and will kill you on sight. Fans of the straightforward stealth games of years past should enjoy themselves with this one.
